CARE Book Award

In order to use your CARE BSA (Book Service Award) funds, you would first need to select and use your EOPS BSA funds, then CARE BSA funds when purchasing your textbooks.

The Book Service Award is available to eligible CARE students in the amount of $500.

Students awarded a CARE BSA will receive an email from Ingrid Serna, please email Iserna@fullcoll.edu if you have any questions.

If you experience any problems in purchasing your books through the bookstore, please email the Bookstore manager Andrew Diaz at am.diaz@follett.com 

If you experience any problems with your EOPS Book Service Award account or have an issue that requires immediate attention, you can email Brandi Wilson at bwilson@fullcoll.edu.

 

CARE BSA status

To find out if you have been awarded a CARE BSA, please contact the CARE Coordinator, Ingrid Serna at Iserna@fullcoll.edu

The Spring 2024 book award is $500. If you select the “shipping” option for online book orders, EOPS will cover the shipping fee! Additionally, if your purchase totals more than the amount awarded, you will be required to pay the difference at the time of purchase.

*Note that these funds are for your own personal use! You may not purchase books using your BSA funds for anyone else.

 

Just a couple reminders in case you have not been awarded:

  • You are a CalWORKs Participant and receiving ancillary funds through the county.
  • You have not submitted all required CARE documentation.
  • You have not attended the required CARE Kick-Off Orientation.
  • If you are a continuing student, you were not enrolled in your appropriate units.
  • (Applies to all EOPS/CARE students): You are enrolled in units, but the majority are at Cypress College.
  • You are wait-listed and not enrolled in the classes yet.
  • You are not enrolled in units.

Educational Supplies Info

FREE educational supplies (school supplies) are available to all CARE students. These items are available for one time pick-up, each semester that you are in the program.

CARE Device Loan Program

The CARE Device Loan program is available to all current CARE students. Devices are distributed on a first come, first served basis and only available while supplies lasts.

To request a laptop and/or hotspot for the current semester, please email the CARE office at CARE@fullcoll.edu or call (714) 992-7745. Further instructions will be provided.

Lending Library

The EOPS/CARE Office works closely with the Fullerton College Library to provide additional benefits for our students. We try to stock Books, Calculators, and Online Access Codes that are in high demand so that our students can borrow these items for the semester (Access codes can be kept and do not need to be returned). It is recommended that EOPS/CARE students first check for their items in the Lending Library prior to spending their Book Service Awards. If the items are available in the library, you can use your BSA funds for any other additional textbooks that you may need.

These items will be provided to students on a first come, first served basis, and only while supplies last.

CARE Grant Info

All CARE Program students may be eligible to receive a CARE Grant Award at the end of each Fall and Spring semester. Below are the eligibility guidelines to be granted the award. CARE students interested in earning a CARE Grant, must complete all EOPS/CARE program requirements listed below:

NEW CARE Students

1. Complete the following requirements:

  • 1st EOPS/CARE counseling appointment
  • APR by assigned deadline
  • Specialist/Coordinator Appointment
  • Complete 3 hours of tutoring

2. Have an unmet need with Financial Aid:

Warning- Work Study Students & Student Loans 

3. Cumulative G.P.A of 2.0 or higher

Continuing CARE Students

1. Complete the following requirements TBD

  • 1st EOPS/CARE counseling appointment
  • APR by assigned deadline
  • Specialist/Coordinator Appointment
  • Complete at least 1 CARE workshop or 3 hours of tutoring

2.  Have an unmet need with Financial Aid:

Warning- Work Study Students & Student Loans 

3. Cumulative G.P.A of 2.0 or higher

CARE Gas & Grocery Cards

All CARE Program students may be eligible to receive CARE gas and/or CARE grocery cards for the Fall and Spring semester (if funds are available). Below are the eligibility requirements.

  • Good Standing with EOPS and CARE Program
  • Attended the CARE Kick-Off Orientation before or during the beginning of each Fall and Spring Semester
  • Have submitted all required CARE documentation:
    • Current CARE CalWORKs Benefits Verification form
    • Transportation proof (auto registration and/or auto insurance)

FALL & SPRING DISTRIBUTION: Students are required to be active on the CARE Canvas to receive cards on monthly distribution dates.

CARE Reimbursement

During the Fall and Spring semesters, CARE Program students may be eligible to receive reimbursements for auto repairs, student fees, and FC Honors Societies application fees, as funds allow. Reimbursement forms must be submitted by the deadline specified on each form.

Auto Repair Reimbursement

CARE allotment for auto maintenance will cover up to $1,000.00 per student for the Fall/Spring semester and as funds allow. Please understand that this is a reimbursement that will be used exclusively for approved auto repairs based on Title V. Auto Repair provider must be an established business.
Please complete the online reimbursement form with the required attachments

  • Driver’s License
  • Car Registration
  • Proof of Insurance
  • Receipts showing eligible date and payment of service – Student Name must be on the receipt to avoid any delays in payment.

Receipt(s) must be itemized and legible, and indicate payment type, reflecting a zero balance.

Allowable expenses include:

  • Tires
  • Oil Change
  • Lubrication & Tune-ups
  • Battery

If your form is incomplete, the CARE Staff will contact you to gather additional documentation.

Student Fees Reimbursement

Make sure when you are done registering for classes, that you add the fees below to your MyGateway Account & Pay for your fees:

Fees automatically added to all student accounts:

  • Health Center ($21.00)
  • Transportation Fee ($5.00/$5.75 OCTA bus fee)

Fees below are “Optional Fees” and will need to be added to the registration:

  • Student Representation Fee ($2.00)
  • Student ID Card
  • Parking Permit
  • A.S. Benefits $12.00
  • Sports Equipment Fee (Varies)

 

Honors Fee Reimbursement

CARE program can assist with reimbursing CARE students that join a Fullerton College Honor Society that requires a membership fee.

  1. Complete the online reimbursement form with required attachments
  2. Provide a copy of the application for the Honor Society
  3. Attach a copy of your receipt showing your paid membership.
