CARE EVENTS

The CARE program hosts various events to enhance the academic experience of the students in the programs.

Fall & Spring Events

  • CARE Kick-Off/Program Orientation occurs 2 weeks prior to the start of each Fall and Spring Semester. We review any changes in requirements, services, financial aid and CalWORKs updates. We also provide a workshop with a motivational speaker or community organization. It’s a great opportunity to meet other CARE students that are enrolled in the program and to meet our EOPS staff.

  • Thanksgiving Day Basket: This is a Fullerton College annual tradition hosted by FC Ethnic Studies, M.E.Ch.A and Chris Lamm /Dr. Toni Dubois Food Bank to support our students and either families with all the supplies needed to have an amaxing holiday.

  • Adopt An Angel: The annual Adopt an Angel takes place every December. It is a fun filled event for our CARE and CalWORKs students and their children. They are given the opportunity to participate in Christmas crafts and a photo with Santa Claus! Children are also provided with gifts!  We begin taking sign-ups for the event at the end of October. This event is a donation based event from our Fullerton College Faculty and Staff.

  • Teen Parent Outreach Event: One of the CARE program components is to provide outreach services to our local teen parent programs in the community. During the Spring semeter we host our Annual Teen parent outreach event. We bring in local teen parent students and give them a College 101 informational Workshop. They are provided with information on admission, financial aid, Cal-Works and EOPS/CARE services.  The high school teen parents are also provided with a campus tour and informational handouts. It is a great opportunity for our current CARE students to provide our teen parent students with testimonies of how higher education has assisted them in their current lives. If you are interested in speaking during this event and providing some motivational guidance to our teen parent students than we highly encourage you to stop by the CARE office .

  • Student-Parent Recognition Lucheion: The CARE and CalWORKs student success luncheon is held every year the Spring semester. It is an opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work and effort that our students dedicate towards their academic goals.  Students are also provided the opportunity to meet and network with former CARE motivational speakers from different University Campuses.  Raffle items and delicious food are provided during this event. We encourage all CARE students to attend.
